David W. Walker
Attorney at Law
Since 1989, I have been helping people chart their family’s future with estate planning and guided clients through the sometimes confusing and stressful probate process.
As a first generation attorney with a family background in education, I was fortunate to find a firm in my hometown of Columbia to begin my practice. It was a good fit and I never left. For a lot of people who come to meet with me, it will be their first time having a professional interaction with an attorney and I always try to keep that in mind as we work through the process. My family’s background in education helps me understand the importance of making sure clients fully understand the options available to them and making sure the estate plan they choose achieves their goals.
I have found people are often motivated to contact an attorney for estate planning as a result of either a good or bad experience with a family member’s estate. The will either say “I just was in charge of my mother’s estate and it went so smoothly I want to make sure the same is the case for my family” or “I was just involved in my mother’s estate and it was a nightmare. I want to make sure that does not happen to my kids when I am gone.” Regardless of the motivation, I take great satisfaction helping clients feel good about the plan they have put in place and the peace of mind it has given them.
As a lifelong Columbia native, I have strong ties to the community. My wife Brenda and I have raised 3 children here and plan to call Columbia our home for years to come. I am a graduate of the University of Missouri for both undergraduate and law school.
